With power returning to much of Lower Manhattan, some Off Broadway theaters and playhouses in the area are offering discounted tickets to entice audiences to return as well. Through next Sunday, potential theatergoers can use the discount code âSANDYâ for $20 tickets to the following shows: âCheckersâ at the Vineyard Theater, âDon't Go Gentleâ at the Lucille Lortel Theater, âFa llingâ at the Minetta Lane Theater, âFuerza Brutaâ at the Daryl Roth Theater, âThe Golden Landâ at the Baruch Performing Arts Center, âThe Other Josh Cohenâ at the Soho Playhouse, âStompâ at the Orpheum Theater and âA Summer Dayâ at the Cherry Lane Theater. In addition, âGiant,â âThe Twenty-Seventh Man,â âWild With Happyâ and âSorryâ will all be discounted at The Public Theater. Tickets for âThrough the Yellow Hourâ at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater will be $15. Tickets buyers should check with participating theaters for schedules and availability.
Many companies have been forced to adjust their performance schedules. The Vineyard resumed performances on Sunday and announced that the opening night for Douglas McGrath's âCheckers,â which stars Anthony LaPaglia as Richard M. Nixon, was now set for Thursday. The Classic Stage Company has moved the opening night of âIvanov,â starring Ethan Hawke, to Nov. 15. The Epic T heater Ensemble has extended the runs of âDispatches From (A)mended Americaâ to Nov. 24 and âHold These Truthsâ to Nov. 25 at the 14th Street Y Theater. The Public Theater announced that it would delay its first preview of âThe Twenty-Seventh Man,â by Nathan Englander, to Thursday at the Martinson Theater. The Pit Stop Players, a group of musicians from Broadway orchestras, will play its canceled Halloween-themed concert on Monday at 8 p.m. at Christ and St. Stephen's Church near Lincoln Center.
The Joyce Theater canceled its presentation of Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal, which was scheduled to run from Oct. 30 to Nov. 4. Tickets can be exchanged, donated or refunded.
