A $4.5 Million Gift for Princeton Art Museum

By CAROL VOGEL

The Princeton University Art Museum has received a $4.5 million gift from Allen R. Adler, a longtime member of the museum's advisory council and his wife, Frances Beatty Adler, vice president of Richard L. Feigen & Co., a New York art gallery, and chairwoman of the Drawing Center in SoHo.

The money will pay for a curator of European art at the museum and support scholarly and educational initiatives including the organization of exhibitions and research. The curator will also teach graduates and undergraduate students as part of the university's department of art history and archaeology.

รข€œThis gift is a visionary commitment to the essential role of the curator at the heart of the museum enterpr ise,'' James Steward, the museum's director, said in a statement announcing the gift.
