The artist Leo Villareal is installing a 30-foot tall, illuminated sculpture, titled “Buckyball,†in Madison Square Park. The piece, inspired by the work of Buckminster Fuller, is made up of 180 LED tubes arranged in a series of geometric shapes - the lights are designed to emit a variety of colors and dynamic sequences. “Buckyball†will make its official debut on Thursday and will be on display until Feb. 1.
