Two New Hosts for \'The X Factor\'

“The X Factor” has two new hosts: Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian Odom.

Mr. Lopez and Ms. Odom will start in November when the Fox singing competition shifts from taped auditions to live performances. They will replace Steve Jones, who was the host last year when the show, which originated in Britain, made its debut in the United States. Simon Cowell, who created the format, said in a statement Tuesday, “The worst kept secret in Hollywood is out” - an acknowledgment that their names surfaced in the press weeks ago.

Both of the new hosts could bring their established fan bases to the show. “The X Factor” is an extra job for both of them: Mr. Lopez will continue to host the entertainment newscast “Extra” and Ms. Odom will continue to appear on the E! reality show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”

“The X Factor” has attracted about 10 million viewers to its audition episodes this season, down from about 12 million viewers last seaso n. Its rival on NBC, “The Voice,” has fared better.
