Adele Records the Theme for the New James Bond Film

By JAMES C. MCKINLEY JR.

Forget Adele's Grammy Awards and the fact that every teenage woman in the world knows the lyrics to most of her blockbuster album, “21.” You know the singer has finally arrived because she has recorded the theme for the new James Bond film, “Skyfall,” according to the Total Film Web site.

There was speculation recently that Adele might be involved with the film's soundtrack when she was spotted at London's Abbey road Studios while the score was being recorded.

Adele joins a long list of pop stars who have sung theme songs for the 50-year-old spy franchise, among them Tom Jones, Carly Simon, Shirley Bassey, Madonna, Sheryl Crow, Duran Duran and Paul McCartney.  The last Bond film, “Quantum of Solace,” featured a song by Jack White and Alicia Keys, “Another Way to Die,” which was poorly received by critics.

Though the site said that Adele's involvement with the soundtrack has been confirmed, it remains unclear if she wrote the music and lyrics or is simply performing the vocals. The song is expected to be released after the movie hits theaters in November.
