Matchbox Twenty Tops Album Chart

Matchbox Twenty has reached No. 1 on the Billboard album chart for the first time with “North” (Atlantic), its first studio record in a decade. “North” sold 95,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and leads a handful of high-charting new titles as the music industry begins releasing its fall albums. Imagine Dragons, an alternative-rock band from Las Vegas, is No. 2, with 83,000 sales of “Night Visions” (Interscope), its first full-length album. The Christian rapper Lecrae is No. 3, with “Gravity” (Reach), which sold 72,000 copies. Last week's No. 1, “Eye on It” (ForeFront), by another Christian rapper, TobyMac, fell to No. 8 in its second week out, with 26,000 sal es. Cat Power opened at No. 10 with 23,000 sales of “Sun” (Matador).
