Jay-Z Releasing Barclays Concert Album

By JAMES C. MCKINLEY JR.

Jay-Z is releasing an eight-song, extended-play record of songs recorded during his recent string of live concerts at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, announced the new EP, “Live in Brooklyn,” on Twitter. The message directed fans to iTunes, where the record can be ordered in advance. No track list has been released by iTunes yet, but it appears the $9.99 download of the album will include eight videos as well.

Though he owns only a tiny sliver of the arena and of the Brooklyn Nets, Mr. Carter has played a giant role in publicizing the venue, doing eight sold-out shows to establish it as a destination for music acts. The last concert came on Satu rday, when Mr. Carter's wife, the singer Beyoncé joined him on stage for the finale. That concert was also streamed online on Mr. Carter's new YouTube channel, as part of his multi-angled publicity blitz.
