Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons to Play Broadway

By JAMES C. MCKINLEY JR.

Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons will perform in a weeklong engagement at the Broadway Theater in October to celebrate the vocal group's 50th anniversary, the producers announced on Wednesday. The show will run from Oct. 19 through Oct. 27.

The concert will be the first time Mr. Valli, perhaps best known for his clear tenor and killer falsetto on hits like “Big Girls Don't Cry” and “Sherry,” has played a Broadway theater, though he has been touring for years with the current lineup of the Four Seasons and often appears in midsize performance spaces.

“I've performed around the world in every size theater imaginable,” he said in the announcement, “but it has always been my dream to play Broadway.”

Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons scored dozens of Top 40 hits in their heyday in the 1960s and 1970s, starting with “Sherry” in 1962. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of F ame in 1990.  The original members of the group no longer tour with Mr. Valli, who also enjoyed a successful career as a solo artist.
