Lawsuit Over \'Raging Bull\' Sequel (Now a Nonsequel) Is Settled

By MICHAEL CIEPLY

A lawsuit that aimed to block a sequel to “Raging Bull” has been settled, according to Entertainment Weekly, which reports that the movie will go forward under the title “The Bronx Bull” and will have no connection with “Raging Bull.”

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, which owns rights to the earlier film, joined Dahlia Waingort, the producer of the new movie, in announcing the settlement, Entertainment Weekly said. Jake LaMotta, whose life was portrayed in “Raging Bull,” has been cooperating with the second film. MGM Studios filed suit in July, claiming that Mr. LaMotta violated agreements by associating with what was then described as “Raging Bull II.”
