Mo\'Nique to Chair Ailey Gala And an Appointment for Robert La Fosse

The actress and comedian Mo'Nique will serve as the honorary chair of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's gala benefit performance on Nov. 28. The evening will kick off the company's five-week season at New York City Center and will also feature Ailey's signature 1960 work “Revelations” with live-music and special guest musicians. Featured vocalists will include the Tony Award-winning actors and singers Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Anika Noni Rose. In other dance news, the Abrons Arts Center has announced the appointment of Robert La Fosse, a veteran of American Ballet Theater and New York City Ballet, as its new direct or of education. Mr. La Fosse will head the arts training program, which dates back to founding mission of Henry Street Settlement in 1893.
