Irish Arts Center Announces New Season

By ERIK PIEPENBURG

The theater company Fishamble, the singer Wallis Bird and an exhibition of works by the painter Colette Murphy are among the fall-season offerings announced by the Irish Arts Center.

The Irish troupe Fishamble (“Noah and the Tower Flower”) will return to New York with “Silent,” a play, written and performed by Pat Kinevane (“Forgotten”), about a homeless man in Dublin. Musical offerings include performances by the singers Mundy, Anthony Mulcahy, Niall Connolly and the Irish composer Mícheal O Suilleabhain. The center will feature an exhibition by Ms. Murphy, an artist, according to a news release, “whose paintings of chaotic seas and floating icebergs explore the journeys made by Irish emigrants to America.” Darrah Carr Dance, with the choreographer Sean Curran, will present a program of modern dance and traditional Irish step. Other events include a film tribute to the Irish novelist Bram Stoker, the auth or of “Dracula,” and a series of talks exploring the links between Irish-Americans and African-Americans.

The Irish Arts Center is at 553 West 51st Street in Manhattan. More information is at irishartscenter.org.
